You know the old allegory about the tortoise and the hare and the metaphor behind it? The tortoise was much slower than the hare, yet he was very efficient. Despite the odds, he still won the race in the end! The journey to optimal health and wellness is actually no different. If you expect to achieve your wellness goals (including weight loss) overnight, then you are sadly mistaken.
The ultimate goal should be lifestyle modification – which is indeed a process. People who partake in crash or fad diets typically see a quick and rather dramatic loss in pounds. But when it’s all over, they tend to switch gears back to prior habits and gain all of the weight back – and then some! Lifestyle modification that includes a consistent, sustainable diet rich in vitamins and nutrients aligned with regular exercise is the true path to experiencing lasting results. Although these results may be seen gradually over a period of time, they’re typically here to stay!
