PDO Threads in Louisville

Am I a candidate for PDO threads?

Generally healthy individuals who are displaying the early signs of aging (fine lines, wrinkles, or mild skin laxity of the face) and desire to correct them may be good candidates for treatment. The best candidates tend to be those who want a subtle, instant lifting of the face but aren’t ready or don’t want to commit to a traditional facelift surgery. In fact, a PDO thread lift has become a popular alternative to more invasive procedures in the aesthetic industry. Ideal candidates are typically between 30 and 65 years old.

What can I expect during a PDO thread lift?

First, we apply a topical numbing agent and local anesthetic to the designated treatment area to ensure you’re as comfortable as possible. The threads are carefully inserted via cannulas (blunt-tipped needles) and gently pulled to lift the skin upwards. The special barbs on the threads anchor them in place. The excess threads are then cut off. The whole procedure is done in office and usually only takes about 15-30 minutes.

Will I need any downtime after a PDO thread treatment?

Something patients really enjoy is that minimal recovery time is needed after their thread treatment. Most people return to work and their normal activities the next day after treatment. Common side effects include minor inflammation and bruising, but these typically resolve within a week.

Are PDO threads safe?

PDO threads are FDA-cleared for safety and carry a much lower risk of complications than other more invasive lifting procedures (such as a surgical facelift). There’s also less risk of scarring, severe bruising, or bleeding with PDO threads.

What results can I expect from a PDO thread lift?

Lifting effects from PDO threads are visible immediately after your treatment. The full results, however, are usually experienced within one to two months following treatment. That timeline depends quite a bit on your age, which is one of the leading factors in how fast your body produces new, healthy collagen. How long your results last depends on factors including the specific thickness of the threads used and your individual metabolic rate. Most patients’ threads dissolve in about six to nine months after injection, but results often last up to two years thanks to the revved up collagen production.
