When you go to fill your child’s Easter basket this weekend, keep the following tips in mind to make this Easter fun & healthy!
Easter is upon us, which, for the kids, means fun Easter egg hunts and colorful baskets filled with all sorts of goodies. But those “goodies” often come in the form of sugary treats that are overindulged in this time of year. But there are plenty of alternatives to not only prevent your child from gorging on all those empty, cavity-causing calories, but to help keep you from sneaking a sweet snack from the basket as well.
Instead of loading those baskets with nothing but brightly wrapped pieces of candy and chocolate bunnies, consider supplementing at least some of the sweet treats with these alternative items for your kiddos!
- Easter books (We love this Pete the Cat Easter Book)
- Sidewalk chalk
- Seek and find games
- Bathing suits/swimming trunks
- Coloring books
- Dried Fruit
- Any toy that promotes outdoor activity
These are just a few small modifications that we grownups can make to promote better health and wellness for our kids. It’s as simple as tossing a treat in a basket!
However you choose to celebrate this year, we hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed Easter!
