Living in rural Kentucky can sometimes inhibit our ability to easily obtain “healthy” foods, especially during the winter months when farmer’s markets are closed for the season. Personally, I’ve found Kroger does an exceptional job when it comes to offering natural foods as well as foods low in processed ingredients. Below are a few of my favorite products that I’ve been able to find at Kroger year-round. If you’re looking for a little something extra to spice up your meals in a healthy way, these delicious treats are a surefire way to do just that!
TessaMae’s™ – This brand is soooo good, and it’s good for you! They make dressings and marinades that can be found in the produce section and on the salad dressing aisle. Also, it’s Whole30® approved!
Primal Kitchen® – These yummy seasonings and marinades add great flavor to a myriad of dishes and are bound to become pantry staples in your home. They’re also Whole30 approved! The entire collection boasts simple, real, and exceptional ingredients, and they leave out dairy, gluten, grain, refined sugar, and soy.
Dark Chocolate Hummus – Have a sweet tooth? Boar’s Head® makes a delicious dark chocolate hummus! Yes, chocolate hummus! It’s great on strawberries, apples, and many other fruits. This is a treat the whole family will enjoy. Other companies, like Sabra® and Cedar’s, make this kind of hummus as well. Dark chocolate hummus has half the calories and carbs compared to Nutella®, another popular chocolate spread. Granted, the hummus does have a bit of added sugar, but it’s still better for you than eating a chocolate bar!
Nutpods® – I’m going to blame Erica for this new addiction of mine. Nutpods are “creamers without the compromise” by way of being non-dairy and free of added sugars. I can’t drink a cup of coffee now without it. I keep my fridge stocked with this wonderful product at all times!
