Eating healthy foods is one of the most important pieces when it comes to health and wellness. But I know that going to the grocery can be overwhelming and chaotic – especially if you have “little helpers” tagging along with you. 

At Vibrant Med, we feel that the path to health and wellness shouldn’t be chaotic or overwhelming. Wellness is all about baby steps; It’s a process! So, here are some of my favorite tips to make your next trip to the grocery store easier.

My favorite tip to make healthier choices at the grocery store is to stick to the outer perimeter aisles. Typically, most grocers have meats, seafood, fruits, vegetables, and organic/whole food options around the outer perimeter. Most processed foods that are packed with additives, preservatives, and sugars are typically centrally located within the store. Remember when choosing healthy foods that organic is the best practice, but any type of fresh foods are good options as well! So explore the perimeter of the store on your next trip to find some new, healthy options and avoid the processed temptations.

I’ve also found that using an online portal for grocery shopping is a great option for keeping your food goals on track. By planning ahead, I can spend more time picking out foods that are healthy for me and my family to enjoy! And, by not shopping in-store, I am less likely to make purchases based on impulses.
